Ambassadors programme
Placement Opportunity - Geography in the Classroom
‘Geography in the Classroom’ is a third year module offered to their Undergraduate Geography students which runs from February to May. As part of this they link their students with a Geography department (either GCSE or A-Level) to observe and support the teacher and students. As part of their assessment they have to develop a resource pack to support student learning. They are currently looking for departments who would be willing to host a student (1/2 day per week for 10 weeks, Birmingham based). Find out more

Masterclasses
Masterclasses are designed to enhance and extend students understanding of a chosen topic within Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences. The School of Geography, Earth and Environmental Sciences, in conjunction with the University of Birmingham Subject Enrichment Programme, runs a series of masterclasses for Year 10, 11 and 12 pupils. Visits to and from schools
A Level in-class talks and Q&A
The University of Birmingham also have a series of A-Level talks which can be delivered via zoom by staff members to slot into your lessons (30 min talk plus time for questions). They have a list of topics you can choose from and we can arrange these at a time to suit both you and the staff member. Find out more
University experiences
The University of Birmingham organises programmes of seminars, tours and practicals at the University for both pupils and teachers. These can be subject specific or multidisciplinary. Their annual highlight is the Global Challenges event; an exciting multiple school experience, with a combination of talks and activites led by academics at the university. Find out more
The Lapworth Museum of Geology
The Museum Education Team offer a fantastic range of targeted in-museum and virtual sessions, activities and loan boxes. They offer visiting groups fun, engaging, and interactive learning experiences for all Key Stages. Find out more
Explore the Earth Sciences Virtual Classroom
The Lapworth Museum of Geology host virtual visits for pupils, to help provide targeted learning associated with the Geography and Geology curriculum. Find out more. Topics include:

Summer schools
The University of Birmingham's summer school residential programmes provide a fantastic opportunity for able students with no history of higher education in their family to consider university as a viable option for their future, and to experience it first hand by staying on campus and going to lectures like university students. At Birmingham, they run these events for students in Year 10 and Year 12. Find out more

This is a programme for eligible students in non-selective state schools across the West Midlands that helps University of Birmingham applicants with little or no higher education experience to explore what studying at university involves. Find out more
School and campus visits
Staff from the University of Birmingham may be able to visit your school or college to participate in a range of events that aim to provide information, advice, and guidance to students and parents. They also host visits by school or college groups to their campus which are a great opportunity for students to get an insight into studying at university. The Outreach team work primarily with state schools and colleges across the West Midlands region while the Student Recruitment Team work with both state and independent schools and colleges across England and Wales.
