Events and lectures

The School of Geography is delighted to host the East London Branch of the Geographical Association, and to work closely with the East London Geography Hub to support geographical education in this part of London. Find out more

Annual Conference
This annual half day event supports A-level geography students by providing a lively interactive learning experience about the issue of climate change, in doing helps cultivate their skills of analysis and communication. Find out more

Visits to and from schools

Taster Talks
All sessions are online via Teams. They include a 45-minute talk from an academic, followed by 30 minutes of Q&A with the academic and a student ambassador studying Geography at QMUL. The talks provide an insight into the exciting, research-led teaching on offer in the School of Geography. Find out more

Fieldwork days
QMUL offer fieldwork days in East London for small groups of A level geography students on the theme of Changing Places led by Kate Amis. These walks introduce students to a part of London that has a long history of social, cultural and economic change and continues to change with contemporary developments and engages with practical issues of research design and research methods.  Find out more

Stepping Stones Programme

The School of Geography at Queen Mary University of London supports prospective students from groups who may experience social and economic barriers to accessing Higher Education through their Widening Participation programme Stepping Stones.

The Stepping Stones Programme, which has been running since 2014, is a guided introduction to university life and studying Geography at university. Throughout the programme students will be introduced to the experience of studying  at university, along with what to expect from a geography degree as well as other related degree programme such as Environmental Science and Global Development.
