Geographical Information Science Research Group (GIScRG) - Postgraduate

This award recognises outstanding postgraduate research within the field of Geographic Information Science, and we invite students who have recently completed their dissertations to participate.

Eligibility criteria

  • The dissertation must be at the Master’s level.
  • The dissertation must not have been submitted for the same award competition.
  • The dissertation should address issues related to GISc, spatial analysis, spatial modelling or geocomputation.
  • Dissertations should be of ‘Distinction’ standard.
  • We will only accept up to two applications per department of higher education institutions in the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Submission requirements

  • A PDF copy of the dissertation.
  • An endorsement letter/email from the Director of the Postgraduate Programme or a nominated representative of the student’s institution.
  • Applications must be submitted by the student’s institution (Director of Postgraduate Programme or a nominated representative) with the student’s knowledge.

Award

The prize for the best dissertation is £100 plus an annual RGS-IBG Associate Fellowship and the runner-up will receive £50 plus an annual RGS-IBG Associate Fellowship.
