Latin American Geographies Research Group

The Latin American Geographies Research Group (LAGRG) of the RGS-IBG is open for submissions for session sponsorship for the 2025 Annual International Conference.

The conference will be chaired by Professor Pat Noxolo (University of Birmingham, UK), on the theme geographies of creativity/creative geographies. It will take place at the University of Birmingham, and online, from the evening of Tuesday 26 to Friday 29 August 2025.

There are multiple benefits to being sponsored by a research group. Sessions sponsored by LAGRG will receive wider publicity, will be scheduled to avoid clashes with other LAGRG sponsored sessions, and can apply for guest passes (subject to eligibility).

Sessions may take the form of presented papers, panels, practitioner forums, discussions, workshops, or something else. Sessions must have a clear link to Latin American geographies and we are particularly keen on sponsoring innovative and alternative session formats.

The RGS-IBG also has guidance for session organisers where you can find more information about hybrid sessions (for which there is very limited capacity) as well as more general information.

To submit a session for sponsorship please email the group’s conference organiser Cordelia Freeman c.freeman@exeter.ac.uk with the following:

  • Session title and abstract (max. 300 words);
  • Names, affiliations and contact details of the convenor(s);
  • Format of the session;
  • Whether the session will be in-person, online or hybrid (and, if hybrid, why that will be necessary);
  • Whether you are seeking sponsorship from any other research groups;
  • How many sessions you are seeking sponsorship for (max. 2).

The deadline to apply for sponsorship is 26 February 2025.

We will notify you of the outcome as soon as possible after this date. Please note that final session submissions, including information of individual papers and panellists, must be submitted to the RGS-IBG by 7 March 2025.

We look forward to receiving your submissions, in the meantime please get in touch with any questions.
