Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group

The Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group of the RGS-IBG invites expressions of interest for sponsored sessions at the RGS-IBG 2025 Annual Conference. The conference will take place in Birmingham and online from 26-29 August 2025.

For further details about the conference, please visit our annual internation conference information. The theme for this year’s conference is Geographies of Creativity/Creative Geographies, and the Chair is Professor Patricia Noxolo.

The Geographies of Health and Wellbeing Research Group is particularly interested in sponsoring sessions that engage with the conference theme and address creativity from the perspective of health, wellbeing, and medical geographies.

We also welcome other sessions outside of the theme, provided you can justify their relevance to pressing and topical issues related to health and wellbeing.

The deadline for sponsored session proposal submissions to GHWRG is Wednesday 19 February 2025.

Please email submissions to Maria Fannin at M.Fannin@bristol.ac.uk and Wendee Zhang at wendee.zhang@ouce.ox.ac.uk including the session title, an abstract (maximum 400 words), name(s) and affiliation(s) of the session convenor(s), contact details, and the intended format of the session.

Session convenors will be notified by Wednesday 26 February as to whether GHWRG will sponsor your session.

  • We can sponsor up to 12 timeslots in the programme. Please note that no session can occupy more than two slots in the programme.
  • A limited number of guest registration passes are available for session participants from outside the UK or within the UK but working in a non-academic context. Please indicate in your submission if you require a guest pass and specify the duration of attendance.

Important dates

  • Once sponsorship decisions are made, full session details (including all proposed papers and presenters) must be submitted by 7 March 2025 to the RGS-IBG.
