Scottish environmental filmmaker and Celtic music producer Cameron Mackay (He/Him) aims to use his media storytelling work to spark new connections between audiences and nature.
Cameron’s background lies in producing documentary films alongside geographical fieldwork and leading expedition teams in locations such as the Indian Himalaya and Greenland.
Wanting to turn his attention to Scotland, Cameron set up an environmental impact-focused film production company in 2020, which has facilitated film productions telling stories of Highlands and Islands communities’ climate action with Climate Hubs, demonstrated inclusive approaches to expeditions with Equal Adventure and created climate justice education resources with Glasgow Science Centre.
These films have been showcased through BBC Scotland, international film festivals and the COP26 Blue Zone to create impact amongst audiences targeting sustainability-led behaviour change and climate policy development.
Also working as a music producer, Cameron draws on local cultural heritage to create place-based soundtracks for his film projects.
