Anna Brewster is an East Devon based fine artist specialising in local landscapes. She has been a visual artist and educator for almost 20 years, working across a range of media from photography to paint. Observing and recording the natural world has always been a large part of her art practice.
She believes that everyone can benefit from being creative and being out in nature. This ethos is the foundation of Umborne Bridge Studio in Colyton, Devon, which she runs with Alex Boon, and is the basis of the River Coly Project.
She is a strong advocate of bringing communities together through art, and runs workshops and sessions in schools and with other local groups. Her latest education projects include:
- Art Club, a donation-funded monthly creative session based at Umborne Bridge Studio where she teaches. This is accompanied by YouTube mini-project videos, encouraging beginners who cannot come along in person to just have a go and enjoy making art in a stress-free way.
- The Creativity Marquee at Sidmouth Seafest, a local festival at which free craft and art activities are laid on for 250+ children and adults each year.
- The River Coly Project, a collection of creative and nature-inspired work made by the local community in Colyton and further afield encompassing nature observation, responses to the river, maps, photo libraries and local history and ecological information.
