Nestled between the bustling port of Bideford and the better-known Clovelly, the little village of Bucks Mills is often overlooked. It was listed in the Domesday Book of 1086 and is within the North Devon Coast Area of Outstanding Natural and the South West Costal Path.
Chris Braund’s family have been associated with Bucks Mills for seven generations. The history of the village is inextricably linked with that of the Braund family and 87% of the Victorian inhabitants of Bucks Mills were Braunds, married to Braunds, or descended from the Braund family.
Chris will introduce the inhabitants of each dwelling and relate anecdotes about the history of this unique fishing village.
