What if teaching fewer case studies could result in higher grades for your students?
This new session is focused on the benefits of using the same case study context to exemplify two or more topics. By doing so, we can help learners develop more in-depth links and connections between different geography topics, fostering their ability to “think like a geographer” in line with Specification assessment objectives. Other benefits include reduced rote learning and stress.
Aimed at both new and more experienced teachers, this event focuses on:
- Case studies that enhance student understanding of people-environment interactions.
- Landscape case studies that additionally support Changing Places learning.
- Links and connections between Water and Carbon Cycle case studies and other core geography topics, at both local and global scales.
- Changing Places case studies that also illustrate important Global Systems ideas and concepts.
- Different examples of synoptic exam question, including AQA 20-mark essays, Pearson paper 3 and OCR paper 3.
Although focused primarily on A level learning, the strategies can be adapted for GCSE teaching.
Delegates will be sent details of how to access the event approximately a week before the event. If this email does not reach you, please contact us (preferably before the day of the event). This event will be run online via Microsoft Teams.
