Fieldwork and expeditions have always been core to the Society's grants programme. Every year we support between 40 and 50 teams of students and researchers get into the field with a Geographical Fieldwork Grant, the Society's longest running grant scheme.
Geographical Fieldwork Grants
Several awards of up to £3,000 for undergraduates or researchers working in teams on overseas fieldwork. Deadline: 21 January 2011 / 17 June 2011
Neville Shulman Challenge Award
A single award of up to £10,000 for exploration and further understanding of the planet. Deadline: 24 September 2010
Land Rover 'Go Beyond' Bursary
A single award of £10,000 and the use of a Land Rover 110 Defender for participants to 'go beyond'. Deadline: 24 September 2010
Journey of a Lifetime
A single award of £4,000 for a journey anywhere in the world and a chance to record your journey for a BBC Radio 4 documentary. Deadline: 24 September 2010
Learning & Leading Gap Year Scholarships
A grant of up to £4,000 plus expert support and mentoring to plan a worthwhile gap year experience before university. Deadline: 24 September 2010
